Italy 2014

The 24th Workshop CCE and 30rd TF meeting of ICP on Modelling and Mapping in 2014 was held from 7-10 April in Rome, Italy and hosted by the National Agency for New technology, Energy and Sustainable Economic Development (ENEA).

Our Italian hosts (ENEA) provided a good environment for the 24th CCE workshop and 30rd ICP M&M Task Force meeting.

Mr Silvano Fares, Mr Pierre Sicard, and Ms Alessandra de Marco presented results from studies in Italy and France on forests and ozone, climate change and air pollution. The workshop and Task Force meetings primarily focused on the results of the 2012-2014 call for data on “no net loss of biodiversity” and what should be the next step in calculating biodiversity based European critical loads. The CCE proposed a new call for data (deadline spring 2015) allowing NFCs to update their critical loads, not only transferring them to the new deposition grid, but also to be able to take into account biodiversity-based criteria. During the workshop we also agreed on a common index to express biodiversity, for use beside other indices for national applications.
